Amman, March 4 (Petra) -- The Lower House Agriculture and Water Committee on Wednesday reviewed a project, aimed at strengthening employability skills in the Kingdom's agricultural sector and examined the Ministry of Agriculture’s key projects and future plans.

During a meeting, MP Ahmad Shdayfat said the project is "important" for upgrading workforce capabilities in line with local market needs.

He called for integrating modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, to improve productivity and optimize agricultural resource management, while supporting youth and enabling innovation across the sector.

He also highlighted the importance of farmer-support projects, particularly in livestock and animal production, to reinforce food security and create sustainable economic opportunities.

He urged "close" monitoring of implementation to ensure investment effectiveness and deliver measurable outcomes in employment and productivity.

Meanwhile, MPs Eyad Jbareen, Mohammad Marayieh, Ahmad Olaimat, Fathi Bawat, Fileeha Khideer, and Bassem Rawabdah urged providing the resources needed to ensure the project’s success.

These MPs emphasized impact measurement of training programs on employment outcomes to ensure fair distribution of benefits and stronger support for small farmers.

Assistant Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Khaled Hayseh outlined the project’s axes and training tracks, which target "higher competency" levels for workers and for youth seeking to enter the agricultural labor market.

Ministry representatives also presented current and upcoming projects and plans to develop agricultural production value chains, as well as extension and training programs, reaffirming continued implementation of strategic plans aimed at advancing sustainable agricultural development.
